Joomla.Jtext is an object the comparison to a function was wrong. Joomla.Jtext._ is a function
But yeah Joomla.JText needs to be loaded otherwise this will trow. (looking at the views I see the behaviour.core being called so it should be there)

Just wondering. Is then Joomla.Jtext available? For me it looks like it would crash as Joomla.Jtext doesn't even exist.
