Apologies in advance if I am writing this in the wrong place

Is it possible to have the tracker set up to autoreply to anyone who comments on a closed issue. With a message something like - please dont comment on closed issues as no one sees them please create your own

cool, was going to propose something for the same issue. I would look a conversation after a month with a message: conversation is looked, please open a new issue or pull request (something like that)

How about something like this for now
"This issue was closed on <insert close date>. It is unlikely anyone will see your comment so please create a new issue and if relevant quote this issue number <insert current issue>. "

I am not sure if let a issue open and just comment on it will help. For my own sanity it would be better to look the conversation because I get an email about the issue if I was involved in some way (merging it e.g.) and often I forget to unsubscribe (I unsubscribe because often people are so nice to say Thank you, and when you merged 50 PR you will have a lot emails)

sorry not sure i undersdtand you robert - are you suggesting that a closed issue should be locked

avatar rdeutz
rdeutz - comment - 26 May 2017

yes after a month it should be automatically closed

avatar rdeutz
rdeutz - comment - 26 May 2017

ah I meant looked

avatar rdeutz
rdeutz - comment - 26 May 2017

day 0: issue merged/close
day 0-30: message as suggested

"This issue was closed on . It is unlikely anyone will see your comment so please create a new issue and if relevant quote this issue number . "

day 31: look issue and post message

"This issue is looked. Please create a new issue and if relevant quote this issue number . "

Ok that's fine with me and will help to fix the stupid who still think they should comment.

The messages are fine by me except for the typo where looked should be locked

Of course it will mean I get 10000 emails on the day this starts :)

How do you think I feel every time one of the sprints happen and I have 100+ unread threads in my GitHub email filter?

avatar brianteeman
brianteeman - comment - 26 May 2017

I have email notifications on as well

avatar brianteeman
brianteeman - comment - 26 May 2017

I guess if we get notice of this being implemented we can turn off all notifications until its been done

avatar rdeutz
rdeutz - comment - 26 May 2017

hmmm can we add something to the subject so that this can be filtered?

avatar mbabker
mbabker - comment - 26 May 2017

Not without changing the issue title.

avatar rdeutz
rdeutz - comment - 26 May 2017

not an option, but we know the message so we can make a filter on "Please create a new issue and if relevant quote this"

Maybe you can filter on mails coming from @joomla-bot? ?
