Can you please remove the colours from the category dropdown AND sort them alphabetically

Its pretty ugly with the colours and when we have more categories (I expect about 20) it will be hard to find what you want if they are not sorted.

Personally, I like the colours.

Me too, but this is still valid #432.

Agree on sorting, makes sense.

The colours are really ugly and because they only expand the width of the
text they make it difficult to read down the column

May I add "extremely awful" to "really ugly" ? ;)

:+1: Please let's get some class :)

Serious, folks: no colours please and alpha sorting. Brian is right. This will let add interspace (letter-spacing) between letters and make the dropdown readable, specially when many categories. If possible with CSS, a very light background on every 2 rows will help separate each category.

This is "Coders vs Designers"

Maybe we can use something like GitHub is doing for labels, displaying a small colored box beside the name:
debug-3881
?

Well just removed that in #457
I love @elkuku 's proposal, while I don't think any of these are ugly...

Maybe we can implement this later?

I don't think that either.

Could you please keep in mind that you are talking about someone else's work when using terms like "ugly" and "awful"?

Let's be constructive,
THANKS!

Sorry, I was trying to say both ways of displaying items with colours are acceptable for me.

And please see the new commits in #457 with screenshots ;)

Since we just merged this in without much testing... @brianteeman @infograf768 could you please check if this looks better now?

Before

debug-3884

After

debug-3885

BTW: Did you noticed the search box? I think this should be a neat feature for long lists.

thanks and looking good BUT it needs to be applied to the category drop
down in the search. Right now its only in the issue

Well when I first implemented this, something was wrong with the js or css file so the dropdown won’t work in the search. @elkuku We had a conversation about that.

But the search dropdown should be in alphabetical order now?

Looks better, but... would'nt it be simpler to light-colour background one row each 2 rows as I suggested above? The reason I am asking is that we are going to get more categories than the ones we get now and there is a limit to the number of pastel colours we would use.

yes it is alphabetical thanks
