This is currently causing a 404 so I suggest to remove it.
Also if we decide to re-implement external CDN I think we should provide a config option to deactivate it. This will help in local off-line development ;)

OK.. that was a PEBKAC (messing with /etc/hosts...)
Will think about that CDN switch in another PR

I hate those PEBKAC related things ;-)
I'm not seeing a
404code with that. It's still a valid font too; http://www.google.com/fonts#UsePlace:use/Collection:Open+Sans. And as much as I hate to use this argument again, it is part of the theme for this template (developer.joomla.org and api.joomla.org use it too).That said, a CDN switch or something would surely be beneficial for that localhost environment.
