Pull Request for Issue # .
When we have a lot of categories to choose, with the same name (tipically in subcategories) it is impossible to choose the right category as a parent category. So i suggest to add the category id at the end of the category name. So we can also search for category id.

With respect to general government ( in Italy 23% of the sites is made in joomla ) it is more rare to have a site in multi - language. While it is very common to have multiple categories with the same name. I think it is good to keep them both.
I see where this is going and the problem you are trying to resolve. It is definitely a limitation of the search and one that really is only relevant on a lrge site where scrolling through the lit is not an option but I am not convinced that displaying the id is helpful on all sites and that it doesnt just make things more complicated.
Perhaps a solution is to enable the ability to search by the id in the select box without actually displaying the id in the tree would work
I agree, at that point you could also add the search for alias
I have tested this item successfully on f42f92a
Tested with a copy of a category with manually added unique alias.
Problem still is how do I know the id of the wanted category.

Ok, I was confused because of your other PR.
This PR differs from #9972:
This PR (#9741) adds the ID in Content > Categories > edit Category -> the dropdown option to choose a Parent Category
Your other PR (#9972) adds the ID to Category titles at other places in Joomla that make use of the Categories
Thank you for your contribution but it has been decided that this is not something that will be included in the core of Joomla.

hmm. I was going to make a PR similar to #9739 to add the language code...
