Log in to /administrator. Go to article manager. reduce the number of articles requested (upper right) to below the number you know are in #__content.
Click on any of the pagination links at bottom.
You should get another page of results, articles from #__content
I get no matching articles no matter what and I have 1000-2000 articles:

I reinstalled 3.3.6. Tried the update patch and also tried a full install. Made sure that the chmod privs on files and directories were appropriate in each case.

I know there was some talk about this being fixed with pull 4330. I tried com_patchtester also - no luck. I'd set the priority to Urgent but there doesn't seem to be much chatter about it.
Thanks for looking into it. I'll dig deeper by looking at the queries and see if I can reproduce.

There is a known issue (#4488) that you can't go back to the first page. And there are still some issues related to getting a correct total count for some queries.
But this one is different and I can't reproduce that.
