I am a Joomla website admin. I would like to report a possible Joomla 3.3.6 bug:
When I use the BATCH feature of the Module Manager to change module positions it also changes the name of the module which I don't want (like you are copying the module when you're not) and it also UNpublishes the modules.
The module title will only be changed if in the position which you move the module to has a module with the same title already, so it is an expected behavior
For modules are unpublished when move, it is an easy fix. Not sure if it is necessary to fix ? If Yes, I will open a PR.
yes sorry you are correct does rename if a module of the same title exists
although it isnt strictly necessary as we can have modules with the same
name it is helpful at the beginning so that you know which one you have
moved

Moving to Needs Review
so a Maintainer can decide if this should changed or not. Thanks.
Hi, this is an old tracker, but I confirm that the issue about the moved modules that are unpublished is still in Joomla 3.5.0rc2
The problem is more evident when an administrator moves a lot of modules.

I didnt see the modules being renamed although I do see them being
unpublished which I agree would be better if that did not happen on a move
