What happened?

You need two different users with edit permission.
One user opens an article.
The other user opens a adminsitrator session, goes to menus and inserts (or opens) a singleArticle menuItem.
Select the atricle which is blocked by the other user.
Save.

Now open this menu Item again.

Version

Expected result

The article is not editable as long as it is checked out.

Expected solution: Disable the edit button in the edit view the article is checked out and add the lock icon.

Actual result

The article is editable while it is checked out by another user.

what access level are the users?

One in frontend, author, The other one super user.
But this does not matter. A super user or admin can check in an article in the article list.
Editing in a menuItem is not the same - I did it recently but was not aware that this changes the article for the author too.

a super user can do anything - ignoring any checked out restriction

When a super user tries to open an article in the articles list - the system says "this article is checked out".
He then can check in the article. Then he can edit the article. Two steps.

As this is since ever, it is not urgent at all.

When User A (Manager) opens an article and keeps it checked out.

Then User B (Super User) opens the same article from the Single Article Menu Item, changes the description from empty to "User B", and clicks Save.

After that, the article is no longer checked out.

Then User A, who still has the article open, writes "User A" and clicks Save.

In the end, the article contains "User A".

So the Super User can remove the checkout by saving the article from the menu item, and then both users can save their changes. I think this can cause lost changes.

Closing the issue as the PR #48301 seems to resolve the problem.
