I create a new Tag say Tag1 in Joomla. Then I publish say 3 articles in Joomla, using that Tag1. Then when I display the Tags in the front page, next to Tag1 it doesn't show 3, but a random number. In previous versions, maybe before 5.3 it was working fine.

How are you displaying the tags? Is it a module? If so which one

Acceptable, however personally I see it ( for many new Tags I create). I have many Tags listed, if it makes any difference.

Could you please give concrete numbers or screenshots of backend and frontend? As you say random does the number change with every load of the site?

No the # of articles next to the Tag is not changing with every load of the site. It is constant, but it doesn't reflect the correct number of articles. This is happening to the new Tags. The older Tags (before Joomla 5.3 or so) seem to work ok.

In the backend (Joomla administration) the Tags have the correct number of articles. In the module Tags - Popular seems to be the problem. For example for 1 Tag 1 article. In the backend under Components - Tags it shows correctly 1. But in the frontend in the module it shows 18 (1 example). I have tried also the "Rebuild" in the Tags backend, but no difference.

Uploading images is easier than it is in the issue tracker.

Based on my test when you create new tags, there is indeed an issue with the number showing, not random numbers but 2x the actual number for the newly created tags.

So, if you have 1 article with a tag, it says 2, if you have 2 articles with a tag, it says 4., if you have 3 articles with a tag, it says 6...

So, if you have 1 article with a tag, it says 2, if you have 2 articles with a tag, it says 4., if you have 3 articles with a tag, it says 6...

Possible reason see issue #46816 ?

Ah I can see it now. It didnt happen when I just added one new tag but i did get the double count as soon as i added a second and third tag
