When a new menu item of type System Links > Menu Item Alias, the menu item is visible, but when clicking on the menu item nothing happens. The behaviour seems to be the same as a "Menu Heading".

Steps to reproduce the issue

  1. Create a standard menu item, e.g. pointing to a single article.
  2. Create another menu item of type Menu Item Alias and select the above menu item as the target menu item.
  3. Both menu items should appear on the site.
  4. Click on the alias menu item and nothing will happen.

Expected result

The browser should navigate to the menu item created in the first step.

Actual result

Nothing happens. The browser remains on the same page.

I'm not sure when the issue has been introduced, but it used to work on the Joomla 3 and older versions.

Test using blog sample data: "Bottom menu > Login" (Menu Item Alias of "Main menu blog > Login") works as expected.

My sincere apologies, I should have investigated the issue more thorough.
Looks like mod_menu has been overridden causing the problem.

Please close this issue.
Once again, my sincere apologies for wasting your time.
