Confirming that it works sometimes but not others. Cant work oout a patteern though

I had one case: three custom fields with ordering 1-2-3 in the database.
Trashed the first field. Then dragged one of the remaining fields.
After that, ordering numbers were 1-1-2 in the database and changing the odering was no longer possible.

Maybe ordering goes only over published fields.

Ran into the same issue. Have 3 subform fields in 3 field groups and can't sort the subform fields. it just get's ignored. and can't drop them in between the other subform fields like i would want to. I can only drag them to the beginning and end of the list.

correction; only able to drag and drom them to the bottom of the list.

Also opening the field, i don't see a order dropdown?

but on page refresh does it return back to the order before you changed it? Because thats what's happening here. It's just not being saved. Altho the ajax controller returns a 1 as in a successful. Database is unchanged.

correction. the sql field i have in there has the same behaviour.

I'm having a similar/same issue:
I created 3 custom fields, each in 3 different groups (a - b- c for example).

(in my sceenshot Groupes FR - Style FR - Ambiances FR)

If I'l trying to order the CF, it does NOT work (drag and drop won't operate).
Solution : as soon as I affect my 3 CF to the same group (lets say group "a"), I can order the CF.

Then, once my sorting done, I have to change my 2nd Cf to group B, and 3rd CF to group C, it will keep my wanted order...
