Steps to reproduce the issue

Updated from live installer from latest stable 3.5.1 to 3.6
An ajax error appeared on 100% and i went to main panel after a few seconds.
Then i checked for DB errors (there where 4 regarding 3.5.1 version to 3.6) and fixed them.

Expected result

Extentions->Manage->installer should show show the tabs:
"Upload package file", "install from folder", "install from URL" and "install from web"

Actual result

Extentions->Manage->installer shows:
Warning

No installation plugin has been enabled. At least one must be enabled to be able to use the installer. Go to the Plugin Manager to enable the plugins.

Only "install from web tab" is present, the tabs:
"Upload package file", "install from folder", "install from URL" are missing.

System information (as much as possible)

PHP Version 5.6.17
Server Apache
Database Version 5.5.47-MariaDB

Additional comments

Clear Cache has been performed,
Logged in and out of the web site.
The plugin from plugin manager has been disabled and re-enabled.
Also the joomla installation files have been re downloaded from the installer

Had the same issue on a client's website (updated from Joomla! 3.4.8 I think, not sure) - the end-user solution would be to go to Extensions > Manage > Discover > click on the Discover button on the toolbar. The plugins should now show up, select them and click on Install. After they're installed, enable them from Extensions > Plugins.

Hello,

I can confirm that by going on the manage-> Discover and by pressing once again the button discover the plugins do show up.
Installer - Install from Folder
Installer - Install from Upload
Installer - Install from URL

Once installed and enabled are working as they should.

Wouldn't trust this installation, suggest to fix the infra so the update runs without problems!
When something goes wrong with an update, you need to restore and update again!

I would like to note that in various other Joomla updates the tabs are not directly visible.
In order to see them go to extentions->manage->discover->options and set "Updates Caching (in hours)" in 0 and save and close. Then press the discover button once again and the tabs in the install menu should now appear. Now change the hours back to 6 from 0.

PS. Yes generally when an installation fails it is better to fall back and try again, i agree.

Well there is the problem - your upgrade did not complete successfully and therefore did not run the final stages which is to run the database queries to install the new plugins.

Did you make a note of the error message? if not then there is no point in this issue staying open, as thats the key here... the failure of the upgrade, everything after that is a redherring.

Then i checked for DB errors (there where 4 regarding 3.5.1 version to 3.6) an fixed them.

This should have installed the extensions - but I have seen it overnight not do so, but simply discovering and installing them manually is enough, there are no long term effects.

I am closing this as it is clear the problem was an unsuccessful/not completed update

Hello,

As far as i remember it was a popup that stated there as an error with ajax no code or something specific.
Anyway the topic can close i believe we have identified all issues and provided solutions that will assist others facing this issue.

Had the same issue, only the Install from Web tab was visible in two of my sites after upgrading to 3.6 (Stable). I don't remember in the Betas or RC's that this was a problem.

I resolved this by simply doing a Discover install which found the three installer plugins which didn't install in the first instance, and then just enabled them in Plugin manager.

Discover and install didn't resolve the issue in my case. Anything else one can do to fix?

Then you have no upgraded correctly - do the upgrade again, overwriting all core files - AFTER upgrading the Joomla Update Extension.

I have the same issue, the solution provided above only located one installer instead of 3. My joomla update failed midway with an error (Javascript Alert). From yesterday, i can't find a solution for my problem. I have updated all my other sites to Joomla 3.6 without any issues except this one.

Please use the forum for support http://forum.joomla.org - that error was
significant but without knowing what it said it doesnt help. Best thing
would just be to resintall the site from your backup and do the upgrade
again

Had the same problem, I think this was caused by a failed update to 3.6, installed the update manually then went to discover and was able to get the three other install methods.
