Test:
Do not publish the smart search module in frontend or any module loading chosen.
Create a Smart Search menu item. Display the page obtained.
Also same issue when displaying a multilingual site where the setting of the language switcher is set to Use Dropdown
Before patch, the select boxes look like
If the smart search module had been loaded we would have got chosen Select boxes.
After patch:
Note: the breadcrumbs display issue should be treated separately as it exists before patch.

@infograf768 Hmm, but after applying this patch, the select box of the language switcher module changes from the chosen select box (like shown on 2nd screenshot in your decription) to normal (like shown on your 1st screenshot) when I navigate to a page different page than the smart search menu item's page, and back to chosen when I navigate back to the smart search menu item's page, means the look of the language swticher dropdown list toggles with navigation.
Is this desired behavior?
If not, I should alter my test result.

unsuccessfully on b745a71
@infograf768 I had caching off so it should not be a cached page I had seen. To be sure that nobody sets RTC meanwhile as long as not clear if OK or not, I alter my test result now. I can later change this back if needed.

I have tested this item successfully on b745a71
Tested with success.
@infograf768 Sorry, please ignore my false previous comments and test result change. It was related to my template override. When I use standard protostar, it works as desired.
