When trashing an item in Joomla, the publish icon is a trash can (see the screenshot). In my opinion this doesn't make sense UX wise, since the button actually publishes the item again.
I would like to suggest to change the icon from icon-trash to icon-undo.
I had to do a bit of detective work to understand what you were describing.
For clarity, the screenshot you are showing is showing articles which are already trashed (and hence show the trash icon) - I think this is the correct display because it is denoting that the item is in the trashed state.
I do not think that changing this would improve the user interface. If you see the screenshot attached, the trash icon denotes, when showing all articles, that this item is trashed. It's a clear visual representation of the status. If this was changed as you are proposing, it would be confusing to users. 'Undo' does not signify that the item is trashed, and it could be confusing - especially with version control - as to what you're indicating could be undone.
Therefore for this reason I would not support this change.
