Changes "Thank you for your email." to "Thank you for your message."
The user doesn't expect to send an email and it's strange that an they send an email because it's not there email client they are using normally.
Not needed.
As alternative, "inquiry" could be used but than we need a new language string because the meaning is changed.
If it's not accepted please close it and don't leave it open for ever.

That's exactly the point, I do this for each site I create after the owner complaints. So I thought better change it upstrewlam since it's simply wrong from enduser position but as said do what ever you want.
I disagree - the contact is sent as an email and this message has not been changed for 20 years. This substantially changes the meaning of the string so it could only be made in a major release according to our policies.
A site owner can always create an override for this if they desire.
