Welcome, and thank you for your interest in contributing to Joomla!

If you want to apply for GSoC: https://community.joomla.org/gsoc/

Please take a few minutes to read the following before opening issues or pull requests.

Getting Started

Important Rules

  • We do not assign issues. Submit a PR when you're ready to contribute.
  • Do not post unrelated comments in issues or pull requests.
  • Search existing issues and PRs before starting work to avoid duplicates.
  • Start small. Well-scoped contributions have a much better chance of being merged.
  • For PRs: Complete the Pull Request template and include test instructions.
  • Submitted PRs: A PR is checked for code style and syntax immediately — if there are errors, either close your PR or set it to Draft and fix the problems.

AI Policy

Please read and follow our Generative AI Policy before submitting any code:

Hi, thank you for the guidelines.

I’m a GSoC 2026 applicant and currently setting up my Joomla development environment and exploring the codebase. I’ll start with small contributions and submit PRs once ready, following the contribution and AI policies.

Looking forward to contributing!

Thanks @MacJoom for the guidelines.
I’m a beginner in open source and excited to contribute to Joomla. Exploring the project has already been a valuable learning experience for me. This is my first time participating in GSoC 2026, and I’m glad to start my journey with Joomla.

Hi @MacJoom

Thank you for the helpful guidelines.

I’m a GSoC 2026 applicant and have completed my initial contribution. I’ve submitted a PR (Support array for image field in schemaorg plugin #47444) with proper testing instructions and have addressed the feedback.

I have also submitted my GSoC proposal and am currently waiting for the review and approval of my PR for merging.

Meanwhile, I’m continuing to explore the Joomla codebase and work on further contributions.

Looking forward to your feedback!

Thank you

Hi @MacJoom

Thank you for the reference! I’m a beginner contributor interested in GSoC 2026 and would like to work on fixing these accessibility issues in Joomla 4.4.13 with the Cassiopeia theme.

I’ve started familiarizing myself with Joomla and set up a development environment. Could you please guide me on how to start contributing to this issue or suggest which part of the template I should look at first?

I’m eager to learn and help!

Thanks,
Jitesh

@jiteshkhatri11 Thank you for your interest in Joomla! Please note that the GSoC 2026 Contributor Application closed March 31th. The latest version of Joomla is 6.0.4 - bug fixes can be done for 5.4.4 - Joomla 4.4.13 is severly outdated.

Hi @MacJoom,

Thank you for the clarification!

I have already submitted my GSoC 2026 proposal for Joomla. I understand that Joomla 4.4.13 is outdated, so I will switch to Joomla 6 and check if these accessibility issues still exist there.

I would be happy to work on fixing them if needed.

Thanks for your guidance!

Best regards,
Jitesh
