When manually creating a content language (e.g., Armenian hy-AM) without an installed language pack, Joomla throws the following warning in the Articles view:
"Warning: Some associated items are assigned to the hy-AM Content Language but that Content Language is trashed or deleted."
At the same time:
The language association icon is not shown in the list view for the English article.
The icon is shown correctly in the Armenian article.
The content language (hy-AM) is published, and article associations work correctly.
Go to System → Languages → Content Languages
Click "New" and create a language with:
Language Tag: hy-AM
URL Code: hy
Image Prefix: hy
Published: ✅
Create one article in English, and another in Armenian (hy-AM)
Associate the two articles via the Language Associations tab
Go to Content → Articles and check the association icons and warning message
No warning message should appear if the content language is published.
Language association icons should appear for both associated articles.
Joomla incorrectly shows the warning that hy-AM is "trashed or deleted."
Association icon only appears in one direction (Armenian → English), but not the reverse.
Warning persists until a dummy language pack (or XML manifest file) is manually created.
Joomla! version: 5.3.2
Database Version: 10.5.29-MariaDB
Database Collation: utf8_general_ci
Database Connection Collation: utf8mb4_general_ci
PHP Version: 8.2.29

Joomla Backward Compatibility Plugin: Enabled
No Armenian language pack installed (not available yet)
Multilingual setup enabled
The error message started showing after I made the associations between the articles of the different language.
