User tests: Successful: Unsuccessful:
The idea came from a user in the German-speaking community. Particularly with regard to mobile devices, this saves a lot of space while saying the same thing. Many modern applications greet their users with ‘Hello [name]’.
Log in to the backend and click on ‘User menu’.

It saves some space in German and English - no idea about other languages. A real fix would be to set a fixed maximum width and then wrap the text if required.
Is the salutation necessary? I have seen many services ie GitHub do not.
I understand what you are trying to do, but I fear I have to count this as a feature and this would ask you to make this PR against 5.3-dev.
