Steps to reproduce the issue
I create a menu item with a URL and it's an external URL.
Then I create an alias to that menu item.
When clicking the alias, instead of opening the URL, opens a Joomla link which is a 404. e.g. https://domain.co.uk/?Itemid=218
Expected result
Clicking the alias goes to the URL
Actual result
Clicking the alias goes to a Joomla item

I've the same problem on Joomla 5.12 and PHP 8.2
Menu Item Alias of External URL menu item does 404 error

Another user also reported.
I think it is a bug in the router. I have the same problem when I try to resolve a menu item of type URL using the menuitem field on an own module
