Sorry I forgot to mention that this issue is with the Contacts component in the backend. With each contact you can save up to 5 links (link A-E), and currently link E behaves differently than links A-D because it is defined differently.

If you enter e.g. "example.org" in the fields "Link A URL" through "Link D URL" your input is automatically converted into "http://example.org", but if you enter "example.org" in the field "Link E URL" your input will be deleted without any notice, instead you get the message that the contact was saved successfully.

About my last comment: the behaviour with "Link E URL" is not as I wrote it (this is the current behaviour in Joomla 3.3), instead any input is accepted in this field, so when you enter "example.org" you'll find exactly this input after saving again in this field (the content is neither deleted nor prefixed with the protocol "http://" as is the case with the fields "Link A URL" through "Link D URL").
