Brian
Previous versions before 4.x had three skins besides the default option.
I realize tiny MCE now has a skin creator available at
http://skin.tinymce.com/ but the typical Joomla user won't know that (no
tooltip explanation) and if the user has a dark template, their
experience with Joomla will be less than satisfactory.

What makes you thinks there should be three others available?
I agree though it looks like there should be more or the option is
redundantOn 25 August 2014 23:18, David Huelsmann notifications@github.com

I am well aware that there have been significant changes. I personally
don't use TinyMCE but rather JCE. Many, Many users however only work
with the provided Joomla editor. I would be nice to provide a skin for a
dark template and a light template. Just my thoughts.

Perhaps a tooltip pointing to the skin creator? Your choice. As I said,
I personally don't care one way or the other.

Concerning using other skins:
We would need to include the skins in core and modify the xml and php to show the list.
I.e. at this stage it is not enough to drop a new skin in the skins folder to get the choice.
Example of already made skin:
http://www.tinymce.com/download/plugins_view.php?id=2
@infograf768 Ah, thanks!
Personally I dont care if we add extra skins or not BUT if we decide not to
then we might as well remove the config option as with only one choice it
is redundant
