Steps to reproduce the issue

1. create an article and include 'read more' break in article body; set user access level of article to 'registered'; assign article to a category
2. create 'Category Blog' menu item for the category that was assigned to the article; under 'Options' set 'Un-Authorized Link' feature to 'Yes'
3. create a Smart Search module, set your preferences (ie 'Menu Assignment', set 'Status' to 'Publish', etc). Set 'Access' level to 'Registered'. Save it.
4. index site using the Smart Search component

Expected result

Smart Search results display article's title/ intro text. Guest users can click link in Smart Search results and taken to a preview of article title and intro text with 'read more' button that redirects Guest user to login/ register.

Actual result

Smart Search does not find article's title/ info, displays default alert message: 'Assuming %2$s, no results were found'. However the preview of article title and intro text with 'read more' button that redirects Guest user to login/ register is accessible to Guest users via the menu.
