How to test
- Install 3.3.0
- switch update server to testing
- See the update message on com_joomlaupdate
- choose FTP (and enter a test PW)
- see old_updater.jpg
- apply patch (e.g. with Patchtester)
- see the message again
- see that the FTP Password imput is hidden
- see: new_updater.jpg

Do you see this only in version 3.3.0? My version: 3.3.2-dev, update message is not visible.

Patch applied and password is now invisible. Tested with Joomla 3.3.2-dev.

Try to reproduce the bug, don't see update message in Joomla! 3.2.2-dev

Out of curiosity, why does the updater not use the global FTP settings?
