Steps to reproduce the issue
Create one field
Create a subform and select that field
Add another field and select the same field again
Add another field and select the same field again
Save
Expected result
Either
- The field select dropdown does not include fields that have already been added to the subform
or - An error message is displayed showing that you can't use the same field more than once
Actual result
Message says field has been saved but only one instance of the duplicated field exists

There should be something to inform the user that you cant use the same field more than once

It's quite hard to make it works like that, I think. If it is needed, we can display a warning messages when the field is saved to tell users that only one instance of the field could be used in subform so that they know about the mistake (but still allow the Subform field to be saved). Guess that should be enough.
