Steps to reproduce the issue
- Crete a new field for user/article
- Choose the field type as Subfield
- Add a note if the field's dropdown is empty

Is this still an issue as there have been quite a lot of changes to the subfield in the last few months?

Thanks @brianteeman. This should not be an issue anymore because if there are no fields like in this issue, the system will show a warning message to tell users that they need to create some standard fields first before creating Subform field.
Closing this issue for now.
