Publish up/down and feature up/down should be removed asap, because they are wrong on so many levels, like one of the level is your issue.
Additional they are not that great for the SQL query.
beside what benjamin said, the timed feature works the same as the timed publishing feature, you set it to "published" and will only see if it's currently published in the overview.
if you have a better suggestion (changing the button is wrong and not doable at the moment) feel free to comment, in the meantime I close this as expected behavior

That's one solution, adding the current state to the form.
What I meant was changing the value of the button if it's not featured (because of not in time) it should not be "No" but adding something that tells you the current status could be possible.
