On a menu item >> Template Style >> click drop-down >> choose a template style
Works as expected
See below
Joomla! 3.8.12
It would be great if here the drop-down showed template styles (same php file, different parameters) AND the files set up in the template as say "index_layout-name.php" (different php file, same parameters).
That way it would be possible to easily create multiple layouts with sets of predefined modules in predefined positions, using the default parameters, without having to set up different styles.
Thanks
S :)

I'm not sure if I understand it correctly but style have parameter so if you want a different style you have to create a different style and use the style parameter from the template in your index.php.
Moving this to file names makes less sense for me. You can reopen this issue and may provide a PR so we could discuss the solution.
