Introduction

In the past, the Update Site was a hidden location, only managed by the extension. Nowadays, users can Publish/Unpublish, Delete an Update Site. Following the trend to increase the user control and security over the Update Site location, the option to edit the URL will enable the following use changes:

  • To confirm the address where the updates are coming from
  • Change the address where the updates are coming from
  • Support for Update Channels for Extensions: support at core level of a convenient way to publish extension update channels. In a similar way as the core provides the Joomla Next, Testing and Custom URL.
  • In the future, the edition of the Update Site will allow to further enrich the information provided as part of an Update Site (e.g. RSA Public Keys).
  • As preparation for handling signed update packages, where public keys may need to be added manually, a first step is to make the update sites records editable.

You have added drag and drop ordering to this table. Why? I can't see a use case for that or am i missing something?

@brianteeman I know that the draggable and the ordering doesn't affect the update sites process, but its a way to make it equal with the other views like banners / articles, making it more standard, also, you can order the records as you prefer...

If it has no function then it is pointless adding it. There are other views that have lists that don't have drag drop sorting and that's because they have no function.

If it has no function we shouldn't put it in the UI.
