You will also need to make your changes in the LESS files and then compile them to CSS rather than editing the CSS directly (https://docs.joomla.org/Joomla_LESS).
Just add a margin and set .form-group width at 100%
Then you can modify the margin-top attribute of the header class as you wish, to vertically align the header with the input field.

Sorry but I am closing this after 6 months of inactivity. There are unrelated changes in the pr and it needs to be done in the less file instead.
