Add a tab to com_admin's sysinfo view with the environmental checks that are run in the install app. Move these checks from the install app into a library class. Expand this with additional checks (i.e. #7941 or #9508).

I have been thinking about this too and was even considering taking a leaf out of the drupal admin screen where there is a really clear indicator if there are any issues - you dont have to go hunting for them -
and also making the entire view more user friendly and less a long list

@mbabker what about in addition to the change you refer to we also merge com_admin and com_config so that its all under one menu?

do we still need this as the changes to com_joomlaupdate merged into 3.9 have this?

Those checks are only run when you're updating. Given PHP Libraries etc can change outside of Joomla Updates I think Joomla Updates are a compliment to this rather than a replacement for - although I'm willing to be persuaded otherwise?

For Joomla 4 there is really no need for this as all the stuff is now on the same page - even if it is seperate components. My 2c
