Steps to reproduce the issue

Set PHP to 7.1
Joomla 3.6.4

Login to Joomla Admin & install core upgrade to 3.6.5

Expected result

Joomla to upgrade to 3.6.5

Actual result

Presented with ajax error & update hangs. Error erroneously attributes cause to Akeeba backup.

System information (as much as possible)

Joomla 3.6.4
PHP 7.1
Akeeba Backup Professional 5.2.5

Additional comments

Downgrade PHP to 7.0 & upgrade performed as expected.

Same outcome on 5 sites running PHP 7.1. All upgraded when reverted to PHP 7.0

FWIW the restore.php file is updated in staging (so fixed for 3.7).

Not sure. Presumably is fixed in 3.7 as @mbabker says.
