Summary of Changes
The label should be populated automatically from the title when it is empty. This was the old behavior but got broken by PR #12740.
Testing Instructions
- Click on Articles -> Fields -> New
- Define a title
Expected result
The label will be populated with the title content.
Actual result
The label stays empty.

Confirmed and PR works.
Am I right that this only should work for new fields where the label is initially empty.
It doesn't work when I edit an existing field and delete the label?

It should also work then. The label got changed only when it was the same as the title. So it should adapt when you edit the title and the label was the same. If they were different, then the label should not change when the title is adapted.
Ah yes. Now when I know how it should work, it works as expected
