The styling of standard fields within Joomla administration can be quite restrictive due to the lack of a unique identifiers on the containing 'control-group' for each field. Currently there is no easy way to style a single field at a 'control-group' level. Try displaying some fields horizontally or hiding a label and you will find yourself at a loose end.
