Do you mean 3.4.8? There is no such thing as Joomla 4.8?

Don't worry :)

Yes you can easily - although it's a slightly more involved process than usual due to a security fix we needed to make to the Joomla Updater itself in 3.6.1. Follow the following steps

  1. Take a backup of your site and even more importantly test the backup in case anything goes wrong.
  2. Use the Joomla Update Component to update to Joomla 3.6.0
  3. Go to extension manager and update the Joomla Update Component to version 3.6.1
  4. Use the Joomla Update Component to update to Joomla 3.6.2

I was about opening an issue about the same... (but found this).
From 3.4.8 I'm too offered to upgrade to 3.6.0 (I was expecting being offered 3.6.2 at this time)

@wilsonge, do you confirm that after upgrading to 3.6.0 I cannot use "Joomla Update" for updating to 3.6.1 (or 3.6.2 directly), but I have to go through the "Extension Manager" and upload the 3.6.0 -> 3.6.1 update package, "the old way"?

Then I should also follow the instructions found in https://www.joomla.org/announcements/release-news/5666-the-joomla-3-6-1-update.html, i.e. under "For those who have updated to 3.6.1 from a version earlier than 3.6.0 already"?

There is no direct update from 3.6.0 to 3.6.2 bypassing the mumbu-jumbo needed for 3.6.1?

Reread my steps above especially steps 3 and 4 - because what you have written there is not what I put in step 3 and 4 and the same instructions in that article.

Yes you can update from 3.6.0 to 3.6.2 directly - but you still have to update the Joomla Update component as I directed in my steps there AND in the 3.6.1 update notes

I guess many will take it that way reading what is written in https://www.joomla.org/announcements/release-news/5667-joomla-3-6-2-released.html and then the other pages it points at...

Care to explain?

OK, point 3 is the key, I guess...

Correct

Thanks!

IMHO https://www.joomla.org/announcements/release-news/5667-joomla-3-6-2-released.html should make that point cleat too.... maybe I'm blind but I can't see anyting about that in there....
