This pull request solves the issue on #4519 .
I've just replaced the exit statement with return true. I've also checked that the registration process doesn't fail and that everything works properly.

I have tested this issue & after applying the patch the registration process doesn't fail.
I have tested it using front-end Joomla registration
The patch doesn't affect the registration flow.
